Kids Don't Need Cellphones
But the school system seems to be actively working against parents trying to protect their kids from the dangers of the internet and attempting to live a tech-free lifestyle
Ugh I am so stressed out over my 12-year-old daughter's school BS. I swear, these teachers are so goddamn lazy and expect the kids to all have cell phones and therefore they don't print out the announcements and important papers for them, telling them to scan the QR codes instead. I wish they took the digital world out of the classrooms except for the computer room where they could learn actual internet safety and how to type, etc.
My daughter had to use her school chromebook's camera to scan the qr code, hurried off with her laptop in her hands, and was almost late for her next class on the opposite side of the school, but got reprimanded for having her chromebook out of her backpack when she entered the classroom.
The only reason she had the chromebook to scan the QR code is that the school requires each student to have one so they can do all their work digitally (though they're not teaching them typing, so they all can't spell anything because they constantly revert to using the predictive text on their devices), so the teachers don't have to even teach them everything or physically grade their work. The kids write so little that they think writing is a drag and so many of their handwriting is practically illegible due to a lack of practice!
My kids do not have cellphones or video games or full unrestricted access to the internet. I even bought a combination safe for the tablets they can occasionally use, school laptops, and television remotes to be stored in when not in use so there isn't a temptation for their little minds to try and sneak being on their electronic devices.
Since they get the same dopamine hits (causing unhealthy addictions) from being on electronic devices that a cokehead gets from their cocaine addiction, I think it's ridiculous to have access to electronics and expect them to be able to use enough self-control.
It's like racking lines of cocaine on the counter and telling a coke fiend that you expect them to exert self-control while they have access to the counter of lines...it just doesn't work like that. It isn't fair to our children to expect them to have that kind of self-control over their proverbial lines (electronics) when most adults cannot do it themselves and are unable to unplug and be off social media, play their addictive, mind-numbing games, or not watch video after video after video of stupid, pointless, 30 second shorts.
It's so frustrating because I work hard to keep them away from all of the pervert filled apps and the disgusting sex game ads they promote to children's accounts on apps ranging from Snapchat (which many young girls she knows shockingly are allowed to have) to YouTube kids (which allows things like gay men playing "dick or dildo" where the dude in front has to guess which is being put in his ass) to even Netflix! I never watch porn or play those games and *my* Netflix phone app even advertises those "build your own adventure" style sex games to me between rows of films!
Cell phones also put your child at risk of being available to pedos who scour the children's internet games' chats, looking for children who they can groom and convince to start sending, posting, or receiving inappropriate photos.
Not to mention, screen time before bedtime has been scientifically confirmed to have a tremendous negative impact on sleep for children and adults alike, and even though most adults know this, *they* can't even exert self-control over their phone usage in bed, yet they expect children to! Sleep deprivation in children is obviously associated with lower processing speed and working memory, causing them to fall behind in their education!
We also had a big talk with the kids about how the evil people in government and running bigtech know that kids have malleable minds, and how they are aware that the way to change the mindset of a population is to get the children's minds believing in things their parents are trying to protect them from. This way, for example, when they try to roll-out a harmful “vaccine,” they will have a ready and willing people to line up to take it.
I was recently contemplating getting her a flip-phone that could only do calls and texts to talk to her friends on, but it always proves to never be enough, as the schools actively promote kids requiring phones that can go on the internet to even do all they need to do in their classes!
The school's endless acts of laziness actively work against parents trying to protect their kids from all that as long as possible AND from preventing the brain-rotting effects and cocaine-like dopamine hits we receive from using social media and playing video games. Ugghhhh. It is so dang frustrating.
