I lost 100lbs and YOU Can Too!!
Last year I officially lost 100 pounds 13 months, and have kept nearly all of it off for over a year now. This post is meant to display why you too can lose weight and get healthy, and how I did it!
I feel like I lost like 10 years when I lost 100lbs. It still amazes me every single day when I see myself. After so many years, I finally get to see the person I expected to see in the mirror, but never did...it is one of the most incredible feelings.
I have never felt so confident and comfortable in my skin. Plus, I rarely wore makeup when I was fat because I stopped caring about my appearance because I was so dejected and demoralized by my longterm obesity. I felt ugly and didn't want to put lipstick on a pig and expect for that to result in anything other than a pig in lipstick. Shoot, I didn't look in mirrors, regularly brush my hair, or take care of myself like I once did anymore.
I have always loved the process of doing makeup, people used to pay me to do their makeup for formals, dates, and proms, and it is tremendously enjoyable to do things like play with makeup, paint my nails, wear cute clothes and feel beautiful. It is a genuinely fantastic feeling.
If any of that felt familiar to you, remember that it is never too late to begin changing your lifestyle to become more healthy. It's not just something other people are able to do—YOU can do this too. It just takes the desire to do it, the willpower to stick with it, and a plan for what you're going to change in your life to become your best self.
You don't have to feel that way anymore, but only YOU can make the lifestyle changes to lead you to reaching your goals and living in your newfound final results. Nothing changes if nothing changes, and no one can make the changes but YOU. I believe in you.
It is about creating a lifelong commitment to lifestyle changes, not about running through fad diets [diets always have an end], or half-killing yourself doing backbreaking exercises [which too many people do incorrectly, using improper form, and end up hurting themselves], or spending massive amounts of money on weight loss supplements/shakes/pills/creams.
You do NOT NEED to do any of those things to lose weight. You need to intake less calories than you burn [no, I am not a calorie counter; I simply try to eat healthy foods], stop drinking empty calories [sugary/high caloric drinks; instead drink things such as (mostly) water or even sugarless tea/coffee] keep your body constantly moving throughout the day [10k+ steps/day is optimal], and drink half your bodyweight in ounces [i.e. if you weigh 160, you drink 80 ounces].
I also like to add things like squats/lunges/crunches challenges and do sets using light hand weights and resistance bands to get extra mucle toning exercises in [which can all be done in the comfort of your own home.
If you commit to continuously practice the aforementioned healthy habits, you WILL see positive differences in your body; from how you physically and mentally feel and how you look. Seeing physical changes can be a super motivating feeling that pumps up your willpower and desire to continue staying committed to your new way of life.
I highly recommend taking weekly measurements and especially taking photos [in your chonies, form-fitting clothing, or a swimsuit; NOT SUCKING IN YOUR GUT] so you can consistently do side-by-side before-and-after photos. These photos are also an extremely motivating and mentally rewarding tool because the changes are happening over time, and sometimes we're hard on ourselves and think we have not made the progress that other people can see.
Nothing I mentioned is asking a lot, but it can seem daunting to some, which is absolutely normal. I personally found it easier to make these changes slowly and gradually—making one habit [such as increasing yout steps or water intake], and adding a new change after successfully creating a habit.
With adding steps, I found it easier to stick with it by taking my starting average daily number of steps, and adding 500 steps to that as my goal. Every time I had a 7-day streak of hitting my steps goal, I would raise it by another 500 steps.
After a while, I began adding 1k steps to my previous goal, and my habits were becoming so engrained in me that i found it to be almost impossible not to reach my step goal unless I was phenomenally ill.
You can be the change your health, but nothing changes if nothing changes, so not making any changes to your current bad health habits will get you exactly what you put into it—nothing. No one else can make changes for you, and no one else can lose weight for you, but you CAN make changes and lose weight and get healthy for yourself.
Stop sabatoging yourself with excuses such as telling yourself that YOU simply can't lose weight because of xyz working against you.
I have a plethora of health problems counterproductive to losing weight like hypothyroid, polycystic ovarian syndrome [PCOS], pseudotumor cerebri [brain disease], degenerative discs, spinal, and nerve damage, sciatica, cervico-occipital neuralgia, fibromyalgia, arthritis, etc., and also medications that make it difficult to shed pounds.
I consciously disallowed those to give any validity to those excuses anymore. Instead, I actively made the decision to have the resolution, determination, and perseverance to bring about the changes, and ultimately adhere to the new modifications I made to my lifestyle.

My apologies; I know this was rather extensive, but frankly, I was attempting to acknowledge and respond to the myriad of inquiries I have received from numerous fabulous folks who have been yearning to finally take a go at losing weight and are inclined towards beginning to sincerely make changes that will lead to being a much healthier person.
